  • A Mardi Gras Kid & Pet Parade is set for Saturday, Jan. 24 at Solomon Park in the Garden District to benefit the Wiregrass Humane Society — a no-kill shelter that has placed over 12,000 animals in homes. Registration opens at 11 a.m. with parades starting at 1 p.m.  Wiregrass Daily News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Sameka Parks with Vibe Dothan shared energy-filled drinks with the Morning Mingle crew on Dec. 31 as she recapped a successful 2025 and previewed plans for 2026 in a lively event for local residents. The recap highlighted fresh beginnings for Dothan as the community looked ahead to the new year.  WTVY
  • SEACT is holding auditions as it prepares to produce Annie for local audiences. The group seeks local talent and will share more details on audition times soon.  WTVY

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A United Van Lines study showed that Dothan was among the top moving destinations in 2025 due to its strong retail sales and regional growth. Mayor Saliba credits nearby municipalities for the progress and notes a genetics lab will open soon plus work continues on a modern city hall.  WTVY

HEALTH NEWS

  • Young, a longtime member of Dothan's medical community, was named interim chief medical officer at Southeast Health (his appointment aims to boost patient care) and is expected to strengthen local health services.  Dothan Eagle

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Karen Gardner and Emalyn Quiller (from Clearmeadow Morgans and Riding Academy) invite locals to try horseback riding at their facility in Webb in 2026. Prospective riders should check the schedule for lesson times and fees.  WTVY

SPORTS NEWS

  • The 2025 Downtown Dothan Hoops Classic concluded this week with the Dothan Wolves winning the championship & the Eufaula Tigers finishing second, while Charles Henderson earned consolation honors.   • Colton Trotter, a 2025 graduate of Rehobeth High School (now at Troy University), has competed in bass tournaments from Eufaula to Arkansas and will compete at the Bassmaster Opens on Lake Kissimmee from Jan 29th-31st. His younger brother Eastman also fishes competitively.  Rickey Stokes News
