EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Dothan Prep received a $6K grant from the Alabama State Council on the Arts to fund an eight week art project where students learn printmaking techniques; a special student exhibit (Printmaking Through Time) is planned for mid-May to showcase their work. WTVY
- ➤ At 9:15 a.m. today, Dothan Tech received a $94,467.62 grant from the Alabama Department of Education to add new, state-of-the-art equipment for hands-on programs in automotive, aviation, agriscience, construction, HVAC, engineering, welding and culinary arts — this upgrade will boost students' industry-level learning opportunities. - ➤ Customers in the 334 area code will need to begin 10-digit dialing on Jan. 23 as part of an overlay adding area code 483 to meet growing number demand; officials say that everyday calling remains unchanged. Dothan Eagle
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Dothan United Soccer announced coach Carl Reynolds is stepping down after two seasons that produced 19 wins, 7 losses and 4 ties along with a Southern Conference Championship run. He is joining Liberty University as associate head coach and will remain an advisor while the club seeks new leadership. WTVY
- ➤ Carroll High School hired Jacob Kelley as its new head football coach during Thursday’s Ozark City Schools board meeting following Matt Mellown’s resignation. Kelley (who posted a 65-23 record at Cherokee County High over seven seasons) will work to improve the Eagles’ performance. WTVY
- ➤ Abbeville Christian's standout player, Ahmod Billins, was named the 2025 News4 Friday Night Football Player of the Year — a recognition that caps his historic season — at the school. His achievement underlines a season of strong performance. WTVY
