- ➤ The groundbreaking for a new community center at the Wiregrass Public Safety Center campus took place yesterday — the project is set to boost growth on the east side, as Mayor Mark Saliba stated. WTVY

- ➤ Darci Lynne will perform at the Dothan Opera House on Thursday, Jan. 15 + the event will highlight her life after AGT. WTVY
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Z'yon Norton and Angelie Johnson invite kids to join a youth entrepreneur class at Angel's Creations (designed to help grow their business ideas). The event will happen soon in our community. WTVY
- ➤ Representative Paul Lee visited the Houston County Career Center on Friday and presented a check for $25,000 to be divided equally among the schools (the funding is extra to current support). Rickey Stokes News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Dothan Fire Department reminded residents to plug space heaters directly into a wall outlet and keep them away from flammable items as cold weather continues across the area. Officials advised turning off heaters when leaving a room or going to sleep. Wiregrass Daily News
- ➤ A Dothan dietitian recommended that all public schools + federal nutrition programs follow updated nutrition guidelines, with changes set to take effect soon. The new rules will require these institutions to improve meal standards in the community. WTVY
- ➤ The Alabama Department of Health offers free radon test kits for local households and residents may order one online while supplies last (recipients cover return shipping fees) to check homes for radon risks. WTVY
