  • SEACT’s production of Annie debuts at the renovated Opera House, with Kendall Shows as Miss Hannigan and Adam Jones as Oliver Warbucks and 35 performers (including eight actors and a yellow lab as Sandy) performing Tuesday through Saturday at 7 p.m. with a Saturday matinee at 2 p.m.  Wiregrass Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Headland High math teacher Kash Deaton was named February Teacher of the Month today for her hands-on methods that help students learn math, including using Twizzlers as teaching tools. She brings (12 years) of experience and will now compete for Teacher of the Year.  WTVY
  • Alabama lawmakers approved House Bill 78 limiting screen time in licensed childcare centers, preschools, and kindergarten classes; Gov. Kay Ivey is set to sign the law soon. The law will create science-based guidelines and require annual teacher training (ensuring more hands-on learning).  Wiregrass Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Senate Bill 197 proposes a state health and fire inspection certificate for food trucks so they can operate anywhere after one check — local inspectors can still inspect if needed. The bill passed in the Senate and now heads to the House, with potential effect July 1 and full rollout by 2027.  WTVY
