COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Officials announced that a new BMX and skatepark complex will be built in Dothan as the design phase opens for community feedback (local input will help shape the project).  WTVY
  • Wiregrass Honor Flight will hold the Ruck March and fundraiser on Saturday, May 17th where participants can run a 5k with a rucksack or walk 11 miles without one—men carrying rucksacks will bear 35 pounds while women will bear 25 pounds. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the event aims to raise funds to send veterans to Washington D.C. to visit their war memorials.  WDHN

CULTURE NEWS

  • Insane Clown Posse will perform at The Plant in downtown Dothan on May 17 as part of their two-week tour of the eastern United States. Tickets will go on sale Friday, March 21 at 10 a.m.  WTVY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students from Dothan City Schools took part in the Greater East Alabama Regional Science and Engineering Fair at Auburn University at Montgomery on March 14 — where 25 students won awards from 14 projects and set a new district record. Award winners will move on to the state fair in early April and be honored at the Board of Education meeting Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.  Wiregrass Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Dothan will hold a public meeting on the corridor study for AL605 and Brannon Stand Road on April 16 at Westgate Recreation Center (Gym) from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., where residents can ask questions, review maps, and submit written comments about the study stretching from US231 in Midland City to AL52 in Taylor.  Wiregrass Daily News
  • Commissioners approved Dothan’s new city manager contract this morning for Randall Morris, who will earn $225,000 a year with a $700 monthly car allowance and a possible bonus during his two-year term. Morris—a 27-year veteran—took over as interim manager after Kevin Cowper left last year due to a contract dispute and will be confirmed next week.  WTVY

  • Wallace Community College Foundation will host two family-friendly events to support WCCD baseball and softball teams. The Mother and Son Batter Up Brunch will be held on Saturday, March 29 at 11:00 a.m. on the baseball field with game action at 2:00 p.m. and the Father-Daughter Diamond Brunch will take place on Saturday, April 5 at noon on the softball field with game action at 1:00 p.m.  WTVY
