ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Workers went door-to-door for victims after a suspected tornado devastated parts of Dothan, damaging homes and businesses along Cottonwood Road, injuring five students at Dothan Preparatory Academy, and displacing residents near Wiregrass Recreation Center. WTVY
- ➤ A severe storm and possible tornado hit downtown Dothan Monday afternoon and damaged Dothan Prep Academy—where five students were injured—while nearby businesses, trees and power lines were also harmed. WDHN
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A former marine from Dothan (Dustin Rigsbee) was indicted on March 25 by a Dale County grand jury for shooting his girlfriend, Harleigh Dills, in the face with an AR-15 at the Summer Chase trailer park on Mance Newton Road in late January. WDHN
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Southeast Alabama Community Theatre received a $56,300 grant from the Alabama State Council on the Arts to fund a design contract with (Gosselin Architecture) for a new facility at 251 S. Foster Street in downtown Dothan. The design will include an education space and a 200-seat rehearsal hall, and the theatre expects to activate the space by summer 2027. Rickey Stokes News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Two suspected tornadoes touched down in the Wiregrass on Monday afternoon — one landed in Midland City and caused wind damage to trees, power lines and a shed near County Road 59. The other hit downtown Dothan — it severely damaged Dothan Preparatory Academy and injured five students, with two taken to a local hospital. WDHN
