- ➤ After her son Semaj Wilkins died at 14 from congestive heart failure when he collapsed during football practice, Regina Adams donated a new AED (a device that can restore a normal heartbeat) to Coppinville Junior High School to help protect other children. She partnered with Damani Gibson Foundation co-founder Ruqayya Gibson and plans more projects to keep her son's memory alive. WDHN
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 15-year-old (charged with attempted assault on a peace officer) allegedly fired a gun at a Dothan police officer during a late-night foot chase on April 2 near North Range Street and Alabama Avenue as officers responded to a call about a person with a firearm, and no injuries were reported. Wiregrass Daily News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ On April 26 at 7:00 p.m., the Tristate Community Choir will perform Jubilate Deo at Covenant Methodist Church with a live orchestra and free admission, and doors will open at 6:00 p.m. Director Bob Gross said anyone can join the choir for its June performance (no auditions required).
