  • Families gathered at Solomon Park on April 5 for the 2nd Annual Spring Fling in support of National Child Abuse Prevention Month—children met Bluey, saw local firefighters, and played on bouncy houses as festive music filled the air.  Wiregrass Daily News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Houston County emergency crews responded at 8:40 p.m. Friday to a report of a man found unresponsive at the intersection of South County Road 33 and Hodgesville Road who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle—Alabama State Troopers led the investigation while officials closed the road.  Wiregrass Daily News

CRIME NEWS

  • Panama City Beach Mayor Stuart Tettemer on Friday told troubled Dothan teens to 'find God' after authorities arrested three teens last Saturday for a shooting at Pier Park and another teen on Thursday for firing shots near crowded restaurants—warning that such behavior would not be tolerated.  WTVY
  • Dothan police rushed to a Florida Avenue home after receiving a report that a woman was shot in the leg + paramedics transported the injured victim, who is in her 30s, to a hospital.  WTVY

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Fourth Loop Music and Art Festival will expand to two days in 2025—bringing more music and art to local fans. Organizers said they will reveal further details and the new lineup as the event approaches.  Dothan Eagle
  • Downtown Dothan will host the Loop Music & Art Festival — a free two-day event on South Foster Street starting April 11 and ending April 12. Festival organizers say the event will feature over 40 local and regional artists, live music, mural tours and the unveiling of a new public art installation.  Wiregrass Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency urged high school students to sign the Prom Promise to avoid drinking and driving during prom season and reduce accidents. In March, New Brockton High School in Coffee County hosted a mock crash demonstration to show the dangers of distracted driving.  WTVY
