CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Two firearm assaults occurred in Dothan on Saturday when one victim was shot in the stomach at 1:30 a.m. at Johnson Homes and taken to Southeast Health, while another victim was shot in the foot at 6:30 p.m. at old Henry Green Apartments & police are using K-9 units to track suspects. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Houston County will begin billing for sanitation services on June 1—charges will no longer appear on your Wiregrass Electric bill and the amount you pay remains unchanged, so please watch your mailbox for updated payment instructions. Wiregrass Daily News
- ➤ The City of Dothan’s sewer contractor began work today on the 1300 and 1400 blocks of West Main Street—between Woodland Drive and Park Avenue—with crews working nightly from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. until May 2 to manage lane closures and traffic shifts. Wiregrass Daily News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Wiregrass Spay/Neuter Alliance extended its Male Cat Special through May 8—offering neuter surgery and a rabies vaccination for $25 when pet owners schedule an appointment online and mention the special. Wiregrass Daily News
- ➤ On the second Thursday of each month from 6 p.m. + 7 p.m., the Preemie Project of Dothan will host Infant Safe Sleep Classes to teach parents safe sleep techniques that lower the risk of SIDS. Attendees who complete the class and an online survey will receive a free portable crib + join support services offered by the nonprofit. Wiregrass Daily News
