- ➤ Wiregrass Food Bank will host its 'Stamp Out Hunger' drive this weekend—neighbors can leave non-perishable food at their mailbox on Saturday before mail delivery or visit the Food Bank from 2 to 6 p.m. for larger donations to help fight hunger in our community. Rickey Stokes News

- ➤ Former Houston County Sheriff's Office investigator Chris Summerlin pleaded guilty to theft after stealing $2,200 in cash evidence from a bank robbery—he already paid restitution and took theft classes—and will have his charges dismissed if he successfully completes the diversion program. WDHN
- ➤ On May 5, an Ozark woman was dragged 10-15 yards during a fight when she refused to give a ride home, leaving her in critical condition while police charged 22-year-old Jakevion Slater with assault in the first degree—her children were unharmed. WDHN

- ➤ Troy University cut the ribbon on its new nursing program facility (named for alumnus Billy Jones who oversees 17 nursing homes) on May 6th. WTVY
- ➤ Carver School for Mathematics, Science, and Technology’s third-grade Rookies Team and fifth-grade Intermediate Team have qualified for the Perennial Math National Championship under coach Suzanne Richards—marking the first time in school history. - ➤ Dothan City Commission approved $56 million to convert the former main courthouse parking lot into the city's new city hall—construction is expected to begin soon following the vote. WTVY
- ➤ Jimmy McCray announced his bid for mayor in Dothan today, citing his experience in the army and as a police officer to address city challenges+ he promises to use his background to strengthen public safety and local leadership. WTVY

- ➤ Governor Ivey declared May 5—11 as Lung Cancer Action Week to encourage residents to learn about lung cancer risks, screening and early detection.
