- ➤ This Saturday, the 33rd annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is held in Dothan—residents can leave a bag of nonperishable goods by their mailbox for collection by their mail carrier. Donated items will benefit the Wiregrass Area Food Bank, which will be open from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 10. WTVY
- ➤ The Southeast Alabama Community Foundation will host a Community Trust Grants Presentation on May 15 at 10:00 a.m. at Dothan Country Club—local nonprofits that earned grants for impactful initiatives will be honored, and media and community leaders are invited to attend. Wiregrass Daily News

- ➤ On May 8 (a report emerged that a vehicle struck a pedestrian and another vehicle at the drive-thru of Midsouth Bank on Montgomery Highway), Dothan Fire and Pilcher's Ambulance responded; no patients were transported to the hospital (injuries remain unknown). Rickey Stokes News

- ➤ Students from Carver 9th Grade Academy and Dothan High School competed in the Mike Schmitz Cornhole Challenge sponsored by Mike Schmitz Automotive Group to win part of $25,000 in scholarships for strong attendance and academic engagement. Pari Patel earned the top $10,000 prize—other winners received $5,000, $3,000, or $1,000 scholarships based on meeting the challenge criteria. Wiregrass Daily News
- ➤ Fifteen mathletes from Highlands Elementary will compete in the Perennial Math National Championship through live, virtual contests starting May 15 as their Grade 5 team marks a third consecutive national invitation. - ➤ The Alabama Department of Public Health increased income guidelines for WIC so more women and families can get food benefits and nutrition help.
