  • A Dothan High student battling illness graduated Monday, May 11 in a small ceremony that highlighted local resilience — a milestone for the community.  WTVY
  • Wallace Community College-Dothan celebrated 48 Associate Degree Nursing graduates during its Spring 2026 Pinning and Candle Lighting Ceremony on Monday, May 11 at the Dothan Civic Center— honoring the graduates’ transition into professional nursing.   • The Troy University childcare center closed last night, leaving local families scrambling for pre-K options as it was part of Alabama’s First Class Pre-K program and received state funds.  WTVY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Local peanut growers will vote on June 24 during normal office hours — 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. — on whether to continue the 12.5 cents per 100 pounds assessment that funds peanut research, education and promotion, with eligible voters including those who produced peanuts in 2023, 2024 and 2025.  Wiregrass Daily News
