  • Dothan’s animal shelters are changing as a new facility on Highway 52 West is set to open in August and take over stray animal intake from the city shelter, which will then close—Wiregrass Humane Society will continue to serve independently and stress the importance of spaying and neutering pets.  Wiregrass Daily News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Today at 7:07 a.m., the Dothan Fire Department responded to a fully involved structure fire at 305 N. Edgewood, launching a defensive attack to check for occupants and prevent chimney collapse risks—this marks the second fire at the address following a Saturday night incident that was brought under control by 12:27 a.m.  Rickey Stokes News
  • After a fire late Saturday night was controlled by 12:27 a.m., the Dothan Fire Department responded at 7:00 a.m. Sunday to a fully involved structure fire at 305 N. Edgewood Street—crews used a defensive attack to protect nearby buildings and check for occupants while investigators have not yet released the cause.  Wiregrass Daily News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • The Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce was picked as the host for the 2025 FuelAL Fellowship program — a summer program that gives college students internships in June and July to build work skills and connect with local employers. The initiative, led by the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama and supported by Innovate Alabama, will help bring new talent to our area.  Wiregrass Daily News

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Dothan United Dragons won their home opener 3-1 against Montgomery United FC at Rip Hewes Stadium after a delayed start due to rain. They scored all three goals in the first half with Will Noecker, Santiago Hoyos, and Devonte Richards leading — goalie Yago Darub was sent off and replaced by Jermaine Fordah later in the game.  Wiregrass Daily News
