  • Spark Theater has announced its upcoming production 'Henry’s Law' — a play that focuses on bullying, responsibility, and how actions create ripples, with more performance details to be shared soon.  WTVY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Faine Elementary principal Tina Garst earned statewide praise when she finished the NAESP Pre K to 3 Leadership Academy and became a certified leader, joining a group of 40 school leaders in Alabama. She received support for this program (financed by Governor Kay Ivey's Strong Start, Strong Finish initiative and a federal Preschool Development Grant).  Wiregrass Daily News
  • The Dothan City Board of Education will reveal finalists for the next superintendent on June 5 at 4:00 p.m. at their office (1665 Honeysuckle Road) after weeks of candidate evaluations and community input by the Alabama Association of School Boards (AASB). GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Kinsey opened new pickleball courts along the Kinsey Walking Trail behind the volunteer fire station at 6188 Walden Drive using $40,000 from Houston County lodging tax revenue to boost outdoor recreation for residents. Mayor Jason Reneau said the town will build a basketball court next month and is considering a splash pad for future projects.  Wiregrass Daily News

  • The Dothan Dragons will host a home match on May 31 at Rip Hughes Stadium with pet adoptions beginning at 5:30 p.m. — fans who bring pet supplies receive free tickets and special blue and black jerseys are up for auction to benefit Wiregrass Pets Rescue and Adoption.  Wiregrass Daily News
