CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Dothan Police and Pilcher’s responded to reports that a person was shot at West Main Street and South Lena after a client allegedly shot a bondsman at a bonding office; two people were shot and one person returned fire—possibly wounding the suspect in the arm—while investigators searched for an alleged suspect vehicle and First Baptist Church was placed on lockdown. - ➤ On May 29th, Midland City police arrested Napier Field officer Daniel Sanders on a warrant for criminal trespass — a pedestrian was struck in Daleville, a fight broke out at Houston County Jail prompting sheriff and Dothan police to respond, and an SUV pulling a camper ran off the road on Oscar Godwin Road and Highway 231 with minor injuries reported. - ➤ A bicyclist was hit on Daleville Avenue near Industrial Boulevard shortly after 8:00 a.m. on Friday—he sustained non-life-threatening injuries while police search for the black SUV involved in the hit-and-run. WDHN
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Alabama Dance Works will present its spring concert Continuum at the Dothan Opera House from June 12–14 at 7:00 p.m. thanks to a $1,100 grant that funds a free morning show on June 13 for some of the underserved residents, and the performance uses contemporary dance to explore identity—opening access for clients of local nonprofits including The Harbor, House of Ruth, Love in Action and the Dothan Rescue Mission.
