CRIME NEWS

  • Today at 5:00 p.m. in Houston County near Avon, multiple county sheriff deputies and Ashford police responded to a disorderly persons call on Oak Creek Lane when male and female subjects were yelling and one suspect fled on foot between a trailer park and the cemetery near Bluff Springs Church - the suspect was located and taken into custody while Ashford Rescue checked on a victim's injuries.  Rickey Stokes News

CULTURE NEWS

  • The City of Dothan will host the Juneteenth Parade and Celebration on Saturday, June 7 — the parade will kick off at 10:00 a.m. downtown, rain or shine. The celebration will then continue inside the Dothan Civic Center with live music, dance performances, food vendors, and exhibits that highlight Black history and culture.  Wiregrass Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Time is running out to secure one of the last four scholarships for Kiln It & Artventures Art Camp, which gives youth (ages 12-15) hands-on experience with pottery and painting. Registration closes sharply at 9 a.m. CST on June 5.  Wiregrass Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Alabama Department of Transportation will hold an in-person meeting on Tuesday, June 10th at the Kinsey Senior Center — 6899 Walden Drive — from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to discuss proposed improvements along US-431 in Dothan including plans for concrete islands, U-turn lanes and a reduced-conflict intersection at Headland Avenue.  Wiregrass Daily News
