  • The upcoming 35th Annual Slocomb Tomato Jamboree will be held soon to celebrate the town’s famous tomatoes + local organizers are set to offer food, games, and family activities for residents.  WTVY
  • Rehobeth’s 6th annual Red, White and Boom event will be held at Rehobeth’s High School on June 28 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.—featuring over 40 craft and retail vendors, a free kids’ inflatable area, face painting, 15 food vendors, live music with Wiregrass native Crews Wright, and a fireworks show. Parking will be free with a nonperishable food donation—benefiting the Southeast Alabama Baptist Association.  WDHN

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A fire erupted Thursday morning at Carriage House Apartments in Dothan as fire crews quickly responded to control the blaze and began investigating its cause.  WTVY
  • A fire broke out Thursday morning at the Carriage House Apartments on Sheila Drive, prompting Dothan firefighters to arrive at 8:30 a.m. + evacuate residents from neighboring units while investigators examined the cause.  Wiregrass Daily News
  • A fire erupted Thursday morning at Carriage House Apartments on Sheila Drive with crews arriving around 8:30 a.m.—residents in nearby buildings were evacuated and roads were blocked as fire investigators worked to extinguish the flames with no injuries reported.  WTVY

  • Authorities are searching for 16-year-old missing teen Qy’Nii T-Moan Vickers, last seen at 8 p.m. June 16 on Montgomery Highway near Dothan—he was wearing a red Piggly Wiggly shirt, black jeans with a white and green belt, and white Nike shoes and is believed to be in the Anniston area.  Wiregrass Daily News

CULTURE NEWS

  • On June 19, 1865, Union General Gordon Granger and 2,000 troops reached Texas to announce freedom for over 250,000 enslaved people—this event started the tradition of Juneteenth as America’s Second Independence Day.   • The Alabama Department of Corrections will host a career fair on June 25th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Dothan Career Center (787 Ross Clark Circle) to connect job seekers with corrections and public safety opportunities and to share details on benefits and training, hosted with the Alabama Department of Workforce.  Wiregrass Daily News
  • The Houston County Sheriff’s Office in Dothan launched a free mobile app today that lets residents receive emergency alerts—submit anonymous crime tips and access jail and inmate records—and connect with its departments to enhance public safety.  Wiregrass Daily News
