  • Local community activist Pastor Kenneth Sharpton-Glasgow and his ministry KSG Ministries—who won a 2008 lawsuit to restore voting rights—are working to register incarcerated residents for the upcoming city and school board elections this August.  WDHN

CULTURE NEWS

  • Hundreds gathered at the Dothan Civic Center yesterday for the second annual Anime Fest, where popular voice actors answered questions, vendors sold items, and games were available for all to play (many attendees wore costumes they made themselves). Some vendors and fans are already planning to return next year.  WDHN

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A Dothan teacher filed a federal lawsuit claiming that school administrators at Dothan High did not allow her the internet access she needs to check her blood sugar due to severe diabetes—she says the hotspot provided did not work with her insulin pump system and her suggestion for a secondary wifi was turned down.  WTVY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Houston and Dale County Sheriff’s Offices announced their new public safety apps this week to help residents get emergency updates, inmate rosters, and sex offender maps—users can also send in anonymous tips using the app.  WTVY
