Wiregrass 211 will host its first Comfort Call Day on July 16, inviting locals to call homebound seniors to lessen isolation.

A sheriff’s program complements the effort by conducting regular visits to ensure seniors get the support they need.

Downtown America 250 Celebration is scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m. downtown— the free, family-friendly event offers food vendors, live music, a kids zone, and a car show with interactive exhibits including a presidential display at the Civic Center Arena, finishing with a 9 p.m. drone show.

Parents can register Monday, July 6 at 8 a.m. for the City of Dothan Leisure Services’ Beyond the Bell program, which offers after-school care for children ages 6 to 12 at Westgate, Wiregrass, Walton and Andrew Belle recreation centers with sessions running Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. starting Aug. 5.
