- ➤ Residents in Coffee County will have the opportunity to earn disaster preparedness certification with a three-session CERT training in Enterprise starting in August. The course is held at the Enterprise Fire Department Central Station, costs $25, and requires pre-registration along with attendance at all sessions — on August 8, August 9, and August 23. - ➤ Authorities arrested one suspect after a multi-county chase that began at Ross Clark Circle in Dothan and led north into Dale County before ending near Ozark—police reported speeds reached about 115 miles per hour. WDHN

- ➤ Applications for the Alabama Safe Schools Initiative are open for 2025—submissions must be received by Aug. 15 so schools can enhance their safety programs. Dothan Eagle
- ➤ Registration is now open for the Aging Is Living: Dementia Education and Caregiver Conference, set for Friday, August 15 at First United Methodist Church in Dothan—hosted by Rosemary House, SARCOA and Respite Care Ministry. The daylong event will include sessions starting at 9 a.m., an 8 a.m. resource center opening, and free entry for family caregivers plus continuing education credits for professionals. - ➤ The Dothan Houston County Library System Board of Trustees approved a new Patron Records Retention Policy on June 11 that will remove library accounts expired and inactive for at least three years starting on Aug 1—patrons with expired cards can visit any branch with a photo ID and proof of residency to keep their accounts active.
