District 3 candidates answered a questionnaire for the Aug.

5 election and said they will use tech and drones & work to improve downtown while promising plans to boost jobs and handle accessibility issues & support public safety.

Scott Childers, chair of the Dothan School Board, said he wrote a $27,530.25 check from his own account to prove his commitment amid a censure by four board members and the superintendent.

He urged voters to act on the August 5th election—warning that the board's collusion needs to be stopped and noting that a new superintendent is now in charge.

Houston County District 3 commissioner Ricky Herring said he will not run for a third term after nearly eight years of service—he praised his work on the Farm Center and will continue serving until his seat is up in over a year.

He did not rule out returning to politics in the future.

Voters in Dothan planning to cast absentee ballots for the municipal election on August 5 must act quickly as deadlines approach—mail applications by July 29, hand-deliver applications by July 31, complete ballots by 5:00 p.m. on August 4, and mail ballots by noon on August 5.

The election includes contests for Mayor, Associate Commissioners, and the City Schools Board of Education.
