- ➤ The Friends of the Library Big Book Sale will run from August 15 to 24 at the Westgate Recreation Center Gym in Dothan and will offer thousands of books, DVDs, CDs, vinyl records and vintage items at prices starting at 50¢ while FOL members may shop early on August 14 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wiregrass Daily News
- ➤ City and library officials have partnered on a Collection Development Grant—library leaders say the library will keep its mission while changing how it meets community needs. The grant will support updates to collections and services for local residents. Dothan Eagle
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ A recent survey shows that board games remain a favorite in Alabama even with video games available—Checkers is the most played, followed by Chess, Monopoly, Yahtzee and Dominoes, while the Wiregrass Board Games Group grew to 270 members last year. WTVY

- ➤ The Wiregrass Museum of Art now offers 14 Literacy Curriculum Kits—each kit combines reading, writing, and art that meets state standards for PreK through 3rd grade. Teachers and parents can check out kits for up to 2 weeks—staff confirms pick-up and return by email. Wiregrass Daily News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Samples taken on June 30, July 1, and July 2 show that four Wiregrass bodies of water—including Geneva City Park Boat Ramp + Kelly Creek and Pea River + Claybank Creek—failed quality tests. The Choctawhatchee Riverkeeper advises checking current water quality results on Swim Guide before swimming. WTVY

- ➤ The USL2 Playoffs will come to Dothan this weekend at Rip Hewes Stadium—starting Friday, July 18 and continuing Sunday, July 20 with teams vying for a spot in the League Two Final on August 2. Fans can buy single-day tickets for $12 or a weekend pass for $20. Wiregrass Daily News
