ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A wreck with injuries occurred today on Highway 84 East and Sanitary Dairy Road in Cowarts after a truck may have pulled in front of a deputy, and both the deputy and another person sustained injuries including a possible broken leg — Houston County Sheriff Deputies, ALEA Troopers and the Cowarts Volunteer Fire Department responded while ALEA Troopers led the investigation. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ ALDOT awarded more than $337,000 in state grants to 20 public-use airports, including a $52,292 grant for Dothan Regional Airport to acquire a new ARFF vehicle for safety compliance. The grants, part of the Alabama Airport Improvement Funding Program, supported projects with total costs exceeding $2.2 million through local matches and federal funds. Wiregrass Daily News
- ➤ Rickey Stokes filed a complaint on Monday at 10:15 a.m. against the Dothan School Board for breaking the Alabama Open Meetings Law during a meeting where board members—Brett Strickland, Franklin Jones, and Brenda Guilford—skipped the proper steps while discussing a five-year contract for a new superintendent.
