- ➤ David Todd Tyler, 58, was charged with manslaughter for allegedly providing fentanyl that caused the July 23 overdose death of 61-year-old Allen Bates in Ozark—he is held without bond in the Dale County Jail and was also arrested on related drug charges. Dothan Eagle
- ➤ On August 3, a domestic dispute between a father and son on Fortner Street ended in gunfire, leaving one man with a lower leg injury and the other with an upper torso wound—one remains in critical condition as detectives determine who fired first. Wiregrass Daily News
- ➤ David Todd Tyler, 58, was arrested during a July 23 drug bust in Ozark for drug charges and now faces a manslaughter charge after an autopsy confirmed a fentanyl overdose death while he was booked in Dale County Jail with no bond—police say he allegedly gave the fentanyl that caused the victim’s death. - ➤ The Tri-State Community Orchestra will play live music for a screening of the 1925 silent film The Phantom of the Opera at the Dothan Opera House on Friday, October 24 — volunteer musicians from three states perform with support from the Dothan Performing Arts Department to recreate a classic film experience. - ➤ Residents in Houston County who want to vote in the municipal election on August 25 must register by August 11 using a valid Alabama driver license online, by mail, or in person; polls will be open on August 26 (from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.) and voters must bring an approved photo ID. - ➤ Lockheed Martin's Troy facilities are taking part in a $9.5 billion contract that will boost production of two U.S. military cruise missiles—JASSM and LRASM. Work will be performed in Troy and Orlando and is expected to be completed by Jan. 31 while the project includes foreign military sales to Poland, the Netherlands, Japan, and Finland. Dothan Eagle
- ➤ Wiregrass Daily News will go live tonight at 7 p.m. to cover Dothan’s municipal election as voters cast ballots from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The live broadcast will track races for Mayor—City Commissioner seats and the Dothan School Board Chairman as votes are tallied. Wiregrass Daily News
- ➤ On August 1, 2025, the 20th Judicial Circuit processed cases ranging from child support and civil matters to criminal and traffic charges—all overseen by judges like Lori Collier Ingram, Butch Binford, John Steensland and Benjamin Lewis. In Henry County, courts also handled civil, small claims and criminal cases before judges such as Todd Derrick and Spencer Danzey. Rickey Stokes News
