COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Dothan Leisure Services will host a meet+greet event for community members with low vision or vision impairments at the Doug Tew Therapeutic Recreation Center on August 15 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event offers lunch+fun activities and a chance to share ideas for program options such as sports and non-sports recreation, with free transportation available within Dothan.  WTVY
  • Dothan Leisure Services announced that beginning Monday, August 11 at 6 a.m. Connector B—near markers 500, 510, and 520—will be closed for boardwalk improvements, affecting access from the North and West Trailheads; visitors are asked to use the East Trailhead as an alternate route and a reopening date will be provided when the work is complete.  Wiregrass Daily News

  • The Alabama Big 10 has launched the 2025 City Life Photo Contest for Dothan residents, asking each person to submit one original photo that captures everyday life by September 1 at 11:59 p.m. Voting on the contest will take place on the Alabama Big 10 Mayors Facebook page until September 7—where the photo with the most likes wins a $500 gift card.  Wiregrass Daily News

  • Dothan School Board Member Brenda Guilford has called a special board meeting for Monday, August 11 at 5:30 p.m. to approve a signed contract for a new school superintendent + a law firm filed an emergency injunction today over concerns that the board hid important details.  Rickey Stokes News
  • On August 7, 2025, many cases were filed in the 20th Judicial Circuit covering child support, civil, district criminal, and traffic matters with judges like Lori Collier Ingram, John Steensland, Lewis, and Spencer Danzey.
