BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Today, Dollar General has recalled its Clover Valley® Instant Coffee after a customer reported possible glass contamination that may cause mouth or throat injuries. The recall covers three 8-ounce lots sold from July 9 to 21 with best by dates in December 2026 + customers are urged to discard the coffee and request a refund. Wiregrass Daily News

- ➤ Wiregrass Museum of Art will host a color theory workshop on August 23 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Instructor Thomas Colvin will lead teens and adults through lessons on primary, secondary, and tertiary colors — fees are $25 for museum members and $30 for non-members. Wiregrass Daily News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Dothan Fire Chief Larry H. Williams, Jr. announced he will retire on January 1, 2026—ending 38 years of service, including 19 years as chief. WTVY
- ➤ Dothan now has a state forensic lab that serves seven counties after more than ten years without one. Governor Kay Ivey and other officials opened the lab today to cut drug-testing times in half and speed up drug trials for local safety. WTVY
- ➤ A judge ruled Monday afternoon that complaints about the school board breaking open meeting laws were wrong—Dr. Garrick Askew, who began work last week, will keep his role as superintendent. WTVY
- ➤ Today at 6:30 p.m. Dothan Utilities begins replacing the water main on Commonwealth Court at the intersection with West Main with lane closures until 6:00 a.m. tomorrow. Work will continue on Commonwealth Court during daylight hours Aug. 20 to 21 and Aug. 25 to 28—motorists are urged to drive carefully near workers. Wiregrass Daily News
