  • A free QPR Suicide Prevention Training will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 23 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Dothan Housing Authority (1001 Montana Street) where participants will learn how to spot warning signs and find help for mental health emergencies.  Wiregrass Daily News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Shipt will offer a portable benefits program to its professional shoppers in Alabama starting Oct. 1 with the first qualification period running through Dec. 31 and contributions beginning in January. The plan adds 4% of pre-tip earnings to each account—an initiative hailed as a historic milestone by State Sen. Arthur Orr.  Dothan Eagle

CRIME NEWS

  • Dothan Police issued a runaway juvenile alert for 17-year-old Nathan Howard Hicks after he was last seen near the 3400 block of Ross Clark Circle at about 1:20 a.m. on August 19—he was wearing a navy shirt and gray pants and may still be on foot in north Dothan, heading west toward Enterprise.  Wiregrass Daily News
  • Dothan Police are asking for help finding missing 16-year-old Janiyah Roy who was last seen on Aug. 15 in all black near her home at the 1400 block of North Range Street—she is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall and 300 pounds and may still be in the area.  Wiregrass Daily News
  • Dothan Police responded at 7:43 a.m. to a firearm assault at 1604 Alexander Drive where a victim was shot in the hand with non-life-threatening injuries and a female involved in the domestic incident was taken into custody—Pilcher Ambulance and Dothan Fire also responded as investigators from the Criminal Investigation Division continue their probe.  Rickey Stokes News

  • Vineyard Christian Retreat Center in northeast Coffee County offers church groups and families a 110-acre campus with lodging and recreational facilities—including lakes for canoeing and fishing—for a quiet break from daily life.
