  • A mother and son event will be held at Golden Corral in Dothan where mothers and motherly figures build lasting community ties—organizers plan to strengthen local connections.  WTVY
  • Joel Sigler of Pray 4 Dothan said the citywide initiative began last Sunday to bring churches and residents together in prayer. About fifty teams gathered Monday through Wednesday at intersections—praying between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m.—and the movement invites all to join the prayer week as it continues.  Wiregrass Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • At Fort Rucker, the Army’s UAS and Launched Effects Summit opened Aug. 11th and set plans for merging drone operator jobs and training more soldiers to use unmanned systems. Maj. Gen. Clair Gill said the Army added 11 new drones and planned an online marketplace for approved systems — experts showed live demos and discussed new roles for drones.  Dothan Eagle

HEALTH NEWS

  • People Engaged in Recovery is a nonprofit helping individuals with substance use disorder in the Wiregrass community — offering certified recovery support, intake assessments, state resource connections, and free rides to treatment. The group will host International Overdose Awareness Day on August 26 at 5 p.m. with Narcan training and refreshments and will hold the Run for Recovery on September 27 at Taylor Park with live music and food trucks.  Wiregrass Daily News
