- ➤ Dothan police said John Daniel Moore was accused of stealing about $404,000 from an elderly woman and gambling large sums at a Mississippi casino — the charges were dropped when prosecutors found insufficient evidence. WTVY

- ➤ The Alabama State Board of Education released spring ACAP reading exam results for third graders showing that 6,470 out of 55,930 students scored below grade level—Houston County schools ranked 11th overall and top among county schools—and Elba City schools boosted their proficiency rate from 49% to 60%. - ➤ Children in Alabama foster care will get a free book each month from Dolly Parton's Imagination Library — a program announced by Gov. Kay Ivey. The Alabama Department of Human Resources will enroll all foster children ages 0 to 5 automatically to support early learning. Wiregrass Daily News
