  • Dothan Fire will host the Wiregrass 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Rip Hewes Stadium on Saturday, Sept.6 as participants of all ages climb 110 stories—matching the height of the World Trade Center towers—to honor firefighters and first responders who died on Sept.11. CRIME NEWS

  • Early this morning, Dothan police responded to a shooting at a home on the 1400 block of North Range Street that sent one person to the hospital—investigators have not determined if the victim was intentionally shot or accidentally harmed, and officers followed the vehicle to the emergency room while questioning several witnesses.  WTVY

  • Art in Public Places has announced its 2025–2026 Junior Board—a group of high school students chosen to lead community art projects across the Wiregrass—with Providence High School senior Oliver Parsons as president; the board will also coordinate volunteers, public art events and educational programs.  Wiregrass Daily News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dothan’s Social Services Coordinator Stephanie Hardin introduced a new group called Supporting Our Souls—designed for parents, friends, and loved ones of those with addiction—to give families a safe space to share stories and learn healthy boundaries. The group meets Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. at the Peer Building on Wise Drive and is backed by nonprofit Wiregrass Gives.  Wiregrass Daily News
  • The Wiregrass Spay/Neuter Alliance is offering a $35 discounted neuter surgery for male cats in September that includes a rabies vaccination; appointments are required and owners must mention the promotion at check-in — online bookings will show the adjusted price on the morning of surgery.  Wiregrass Daily News

  • The Zombie Chase 5K is scheduled for November 1 at Westgate Tennis Center to benefit the Dothan Special Olympics and the Alabama Law Enforcement Alliance for Peer Support.
