  • Registration for the 2025 Angel Tree Program will be held October 6–10 and families in Dothan are urged to bring required documents such as photo ID, proof of residence, income and child identity records—along with any custody or shelter letters—to ensure a smooth process.  Wiregrass Daily News
  • Wiregrass Pets is selling custom hats for $35—each hat shows the logo on the front and the phrase 'Love Them Fix Them' on the back. The fundraiser runs through September 17 and will help support local animals.  Wiregrass Daily News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On September 3rd, 2025, judges in Houston and Henry Counties held sessions in the 20th Judicial Circuit — Judge Benjamin Lewis conducted initial appearances via a video system while Judges Henry D Binfords, Kevin Moulton, Christopher K Richardson, and R Todd Derrick handled criminal, traffic, and civil cases.  Rickey Stokes News
  • Secretary Greg Reed from the Alabama Department of Workforce praised Dothan at a workforce chamber meeting—highlighting the Wiregrass Innovation Center as a promising example of how rural areas adapt to job market changes. He noted that his office is addressing the 30% of young job seekers not working and is studying a ride-to-work program to boost local employment.  WTVY
  • The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office will host the Charity Golf Classic on September 26 at Indian Springs Golf Club to raise money for Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches.   • Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center is urging Wiregrass residents to watch for signs of suicide risk during Suicide Prevention Awareness Month—encouraging use of crisis resources like 988 and the national #BeThe1To campaign.   • This September, local groups and national organizations offer suicide prevention help by texting 741741 to connect with a counselor and using the 988 Lifeline for support; Dothan residents also can join free QPR training sessions and use CredibleMind for trusted tips—efforts aimed at saving lives.  Wiregrass Daily News
