  • Recreation coordinator Helen Wu explained that DLS will host a range of family events for local residents—promising engaging activities for the upcoming week.  WTVY
  • Henry Jackson 'Jack' Sewell, Jr. passed away peacefully on September 6 at age 80 in Dothan, leaving behind a legacy as a devoted husband, father, and community pillar. His life will be celebrated with military honors at 11 a.m. on September 13 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel.  Rickey Stokes News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • At 4:06 p.m., Dothan 911 dispatched Dothan Fire, Police and Pilcher Ambulance to Houston County Farm Center at 1701 Ross Clark Circle when welding sparked a beam fire, and crews quickly contained the blaze with no major damage —confirmed by Mike Lewis Construction— as county officials arrived.  Rickey Stokes News

  • Dothan police said Cast was last seen near the 200 block of West Main Street at around 9:00 p.m. on September 8—his whereabouts remain unknown.  WTVY

  • Hannah NeSmith is a 2009 Park graduate from Arab and she will receive the Distinguished Alumna Award at Park University’s Homecoming on Sept 26—she started Matlock Realty Group in 2016 and helped fix old buildings in her community.  Wiregrass Daily News

  • A legislative delegation presented a $3 million check—made possible by Alabama’s Growing Alabama tax credit—to invest in the Houston County Distribution Park and support local economic growth.  WTVY
  • On September 8, 2025, Houston County judges held initial appearances for the 20th Judicial Circuit cases via TV—reviewing cases from theft to drug charges. Henry County did not report a docket on that day, showing different court scheduling.  Rickey Stokes News
