- ➤ The Kiwanis Club and McDonald's are hosting the 55th pancake breakfast fundraiser in Dothan, and community members can purchase $7 tickets from Kiwanis Club members. WTVY
- ➤ A community event called Brothers Building Bridges will be held Saturday, Sept. 27 at 9 a.m. at the Dixie Diner at 220 E. Powell Street to bring Black men in education and the community together to discuss challenges facing Black youth + share ideas for solutions. - ➤ Dothan Leisure Services will host its annual S'mores + Snores family campout on Oct. 10 to 11 at Eastgate Park, beginning Friday, Oct. 10 at 4:30 p.m. and ending Saturday, Oct. 11 at 8 a.m. The event, presented by Camping World, will offer tent camping, campfires, a scavenger hunt, nature walk and tent decorating contest while registered participants receive a goody bag, T-shirt, dinner, s'mores and breakfast for $20 each as they must bring their own gear because no electrical access is available. - ➤ Police are investigating after a masked gunman robbed Fast Lane on South Oates Street twice in recent weeks, first on August 19 and then at 9:40 p.m. on Sunday, September 7—each time the suspect fled on foot after demanding money. Wiregrass Daily News

- ➤ Dothan City Schools will hold a job fair at the DCS Central Office on Tuesday, September 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to fill classified and support staff positions—job seekers should bring resumes and be ready to discuss their qualifications. WTVY
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association dedicated a new monument Tuesday morning at Veterans Memorial Park on Fort Rucker to mark the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. General (Ret.) Bryan Doug Brown served as keynote speaker as the event honored the pilots and crew who lost their lives while reinforcing the base's connection to Vietnam. Wiregrass Daily News
- ➤ Two new members were appointed to the Houston Co. Healthcare Board on September 9—this move proceeded more smoothly than last year's disagreements between the healthcare authority and commissioners. WTVY
- ➤ Mayors from the state's 10 biggest cities – including Dothan's – said the AL internet sales tax program is costing their cities money while the Houston County Commission opposes the proposed changes to it. WTVY
