- ➤ Wiregrass Electric Cooperative invites kindergarten through fifth grade students to enter its annual Christmas Card Art Contest. Entries must be mailed by Oct. 6 — the grand prize winner will have their design featured on Alabama Living magazine's December cover and receive a $50 Michaels gift card while second and third place winners get $25 gift cards and every participant receives a small prize. - ➤ Tonight at 6:30 p.m. at the Depot in Ashford, Chris Love announced his bid for District 2 Houston County Commission in front of family, friends, and supporters. Love, a local businessman and farmer—who sees needed improvements on county roads to aid fire and EMS services and law enforcement—said he will work to upgrade local infrastructure and is asking for your vote.
