  • Wanda Dianne Morgan died September 18 after fighting cancer, leaving behind nine children and many foster children. A celebration of her life will be held at Dothan First's Fellowship Building—Sunday, September 28 at 4 p.m.—with arrangements by Glover Funeral Home.  Rickey Stokes News
  • The Wiregrass Recreation Center indoor facilities on 6th Avenue are closed for immediate and necessary maintenance—outdoor activities continue as scheduled and updates on the reopening will be shared as soon as available.  WTVY

CULTURE NEWS

  • Justin Stickler and Tommy Tolleson shared details about the Talking Mayhaw Music Festival 2025 in Cottonwood— a three-for-one event scheduled for October 4 that will offer a unique lineup, with more details to be announced as planning continues.  WTVY
  • The Pumpkin Patch event will return to the Wiregrass Museum of Art on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.—this free festival offers artmaking, live demos, costumes, candy, popcorn and handmade art treasures for families in downtown Dothan.  Wiregrass Daily News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Dothan High School was chosen for the National Guard’s Mission Day—students will use virtual reality and simulations to train as soldiers, medics, and first responders.  WTVY
  • Two Wallace Community College students—Hendrick Sanchez and William Bryan—were hired by Michelin through the Wiregrass FAME program to work as Michelin Tech Scholars at the US4 facility in Midland City, where they will spend two days in classes and three days gaining on-the-job experience while earning wages and pursuing their associate degrees. Applications are open for the next FAME cohort starting in summer 2026, which will further strengthen the region’s advanced manufacturing workforce.  Wiregrass Daily News
