- ➤ John Jarett Lord, a kind and creative man who worked as National Director of Marketing at The Cochran Firm and donated his organs to help people, died on October 9 at age 44 in Dothan—he was loved by family and friends. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, October 18 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with a gathering from 10 to 11 a.m. and a reception at Firestone Wood Fired Grill at 12 p.m. Rickey Stokes News

- ➤ Easton Trotter, a 13-year-old from Rehobeth High School, and his partner finished 2nd today at Lake Jordan in a bass fishing tournament — earning a spot on the Wiregrass Student Angler Trail Juniors — while their parents cheered them on. Rickey Stokes News
- ➤ Rehobeth’s Colton Trotter, a 19-year-old Troy University bass team member, won the American Fishing Tour National Championship on Lake Eufaula when he finished day 3 with 57.88 pounds after a week-long tournament held from October 4 to October 10—he credited his win to his mom’s birthday luck.
