  • Moma Tina's Mission House in Dothan is calling on community members to donate and volunteer to prepare 500 Thanksgiving meal plates for over 1,000 families—volunteers will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day at 605 North Alice Street to support meals for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Wiregrass Daily News
  • Santa Claus will visit the historic News4 studios downtown on November 28 at 9 a.m. — families can sign up for one of the 100 slots for children ages 3 to 10 to share their holiday wishes and appear in a special News4 video in December.  WTVY
  • Toyota of Dothan continues its almost 20-year support for Toys for Tots by hosting donation events from November 7 to 8 at Southside Ollie's and on November 14 at Southside Walmart. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Kay Ivey awarded more than $2 million to the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology to support three projects in agriculture and forestry. The funds came from the Alabama Research and Development Advancement Fund and will back a pilot agtech project, a crop improvement study, and a tree genetics project—efforts to boost farming and protect forests statewide.  Wiregrass Daily News
  • After a tornado on January 9, 2024 destroyed the town’s fire station and senior center, Cottonwood now has a new fire station in service—built with state funding and designed for future growth with features like a generator and additional equipment storage.
