  • On Saturday, Kinsey Police, Kinsey Volunteer Fire and Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza hosted a BBQ fundraiser in Kinsey for Deputy Rob Johnson, who is battling malignant sarcoma of the leg and faces a $700 co-pay for his medication. The groups raised $6,004 and presented him with a signed banner and letter at Southeast Health—his Lieutenant James Lee and wife Monica supported him during his hospital stay.  Rickey Stokes News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Sunday afternoon, volunteer firefighters battled a spreading outdoor fire on East Cook Road to protect a home—calling in reinforcements and prompting Houston County deputies to close part of the road, while a separate blaze was reported on West Cook Road.  WTVY

SPORTS NEWS

  • After a tough loss last week, the Troy Trojans beat the Georgia State Panthers 31-19 at home—quarterback Goose Crowder threw for 361 yards and four touchdowns in a strong second half. The win raised Troy's record to 7-4 and sets up a division championship game against Southern Miss on November 29—Troy must secure the West Division Title to keep their championship hopes alive.  WTVY
