A Dothan man was charged with manslaughter in connection with the death on Monday of an elderly man in his care—police are investigating the details.

Principal Todd Mitchell of Carver 9th Grade Academy said the new FOCUS Act will require all student cell phones to be stored in electronic lockers during the school day — a change from the previous system that used classroom closets — and will add an extra phone line for parent contact as rules take effect in the upcoming school year.
