- ➤ Wiregrass United Way CEO Walter Hill said the Campaign Kickoff Bus Tour will begin soon—supporting the group’s mission to help local residents get involved. The tour will offer an opportunity for community members to learn about upcoming initiatives and ways to contribute. WTVY
- ➤ The Dothan Fire Department will host its annual Going for the Gold fundraiser to raise childhood cancer awareness—since 2014, it has raised over $100K to support research. WTVY
- ➤ On Wednesday, the Dothan Kiwanis Club awarded a $13,000 check to Alabama Sheriff’s Youth Ranches during a club meeting held for its 105th anniversary—funds raised at the June Golf Classic will help at-risk youth and support plans to secure land for a new facility in Houston County. WTVY

- ➤ A fire started early this morning in the kitchen of Dothan National Golf Club and Hotel and burst a water pipe which led officials to evacuate the building even though no one was injured— the facility is operating normally. WTVY

- ➤ Wallace Community College has unveiled a new manufacturing training system for over 100 students — including those in the Wiregrass Fame Program who will now gain hands-on training. WTVY

HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ On September 23, Dothan High School staff were alerted during after-school band practice about a suspected vape device, prompting EMS to evaluate several students on site and transport them to local hospitals—parents and guardians were notified promptly. WTVY
- ➤ On Tuesday afternoon, about two dozen Dothan residents attended a free QPR suicide-prevention training provided by the Alabama Suicide Prevention & Resource Coalition — supported by the Addiction Prevention Coalition and Southern Alabama Area Health Education Center — where trainers taught how to spot warning signs and use the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline and QPR steps to help those in crisis. Trainers also offered two hours of continuing-education credit and shared local and national facts to show why early intervention is needed. Wiregrass Daily News
